A giant Kauri tree stretches from floor to ceiling, representing the growth of the senior students at Christchurch East School. For twenty weeks, Rekindle tutors held workshops on  resourceful crafts, including string making, spoon carving and felt making. The project culminated in Simone Bensdorp and Diana Duncan leading the students to create this collaborative artwork for their school. The tree trunk was woven from local Tī kōuka leaves and the leaves were felted from merino wool.

This project was funded through Creatives in Schools.
